Team, roles & permissions

Admin, manager, and rep roles, the Team coaching view, inviting teammates, and how to change who can do what.

Team, roles & permissions

TL;DR — Thawly has three roles — admin, manager, and user (rep). Admins run the account, managers get the coaching view, and reps work their own deals. Everything team-related lives at /team.

The three roles

  • Admin — full control: billing, settings, role changes, CRM connections, and company ownership. Every org needs at least one.
  • Manager — sees the Team page overview and coaching prompts. Can assign companies but can't change billing or roles.
  • User (rep) — works their own and subscribed companies. Reps get a view of their own activity, not the management surfaces.

The Team page (/team)

/team is the single home for everything team-related, visible to managers and admins:

  • Overview tab — per-rep metrics (digest opens, drafts copied, snoozes, and dismissals over the last 30 days, exportable as CSV), company ownership, and coaching prompts that flag reps with cold unactioned deals.
  • Roles tab (admins only) — change anyone between admin / manager / user, and invite teammates. Role changes are audit-logged.

If you've bookmarked /settings/team, it now redirects to /team?tab=roles — the same Roles tab, just a shorter path.

If you're the only person in the org (no teammates yet), /team shows an invite panel rather than the coaching dashboard. The coaching view appears once a second seat joins.

Reps don't see the management tabs — by design, to keep their workflow focused on their own accounts.

Auto-admin and auto-assign

If the org's sole admin is removed, Thawly automatically promotes the longest-tenured remaining member to admin so the account is never locked. Similarly, if a company's owner leaves, the system can auto-assign it to another seat — admins see a banner to confirm or redirect.

Inviting teammates

From the Roles tab, use Invite teammate — every plan includes unlimited seats. New invitees join as users unless promoted. A sole admin can't demote themselves — promote someone else first.

Who gets which signals

Ownership and subscriptions decide signal routing, not role. See Companies, owners, and subscriptions for how owners are auto-subscribed and how reps subscribe to extra accounts.

Defaults

The person who creates the org is the admin. New invitees join as users unless promoted. Roles are per-org.
